18°C — Warm and muggy, a mix of sun and fluffy clouds

We were alerted by the hostess of Aum Home (surfer Maggie from Philadelphia) that the trail South of her town currently has a stream which has overflowed its banks and is, therefore, a challenge to cross. Luckily, her neighbour was available to chauffeur us down the road past that section. Peter is retired from the Dutch Air Force, spent a few postings in Canada, and was very nice to chat with as he deftly wove the car in and out of the traffic on the busy highway. He conveniently dropped us off right at the point where the road intersects the trail. Our walk, then, was along green country lanes, past some fields and small farmyards, and through more woods of cork trees and eucalyptus. A coffee break at the cute village of Bordeira provided the fuel to get us over and down, over and down a couple of big hills leading to Carrapateira. Since this day had a shorter walking distance, our destination was soon reached!
