The Camino, Stage 15 — June 12, 2025: Albergueria to Xunqueira de Ambia (22 km)

Jim, unfortunately, had an episode of vertigo while still in bed early this morning and was feeling dizzy and nauseated.  Perhaps he had been dreaming of doing somersaults?  Once his dorm mates (Antonio and I) had arisen, Jim did the Epley maneuver three times which stabilized him enough to be able to hit the trail just after seven.  It was lightly raining as the two of us trod through the quiet village and into the countryside.  The rain ceased after about an hour and the sky remained overcast.  Our route was not so long today and involved just gentle elevation, either up or down.  In one section, we walked on a straight, flat dirt road, Saskatchewan-like.  Mostly, the yellow arrows directed us along soft paths through old, old woods — cool and green.  Perfect walking conditions!  We saw no other pilgrims, not even at a bar where we stopped for coffee, until we were closer to our destination and then saw one couple walking and one cyclist (all of them were new faces to us).  As we were very hungry when we reached Xunqueira, we went immediately into a restaurant to have the ‘Menu del Dia’ — while eating, we noticed that the establishment is also an accommodation, so we signed in.  We then bumped into Frank and Yuric, who also happen to be staying here.  Showers and siesta rounded off the afternoon.
