26°C — A nice day, weatherwise
By Laurel
Our second day on the Camino Sanabres and we like the country trails, gentle hills, and green trees that this route features. The bar which was indicated to be located partway to our destination today WAS open and provided us with a fresh cup of coffee and an open-faced bacon sandwich. That hit the spot! We arrived in Santa Marta de Tera at about 11:00 am and made a bee-line to the albergue, as it was advertised as opening at 11:00 — perfect timing. But, to our dismay, the door was locked and there was no updated information posted to indicate how to access the facility. Punching the keypad gave no results. Happily, however, Antonio (another pilgrim) was inside and saw us through the window. He let us in, showed us to bunks (two lower ones!), and then escorted us down the block to the church, where we registered with the receptionist, paid our albergue fees, and got our credentials stamped. After that, he took us down the street to a nice restaurant (the only one in town) where we ate a delicious meal of grilled beef and lamb. Antonio was one of the pilgrims that we had hosted on our last night as hospitaleros in Zamora — we joked with him that today we had reversed roles.

What goes around comes around Laurel! It sounds like your lucky day.
